Abdul Wahid Thowfeeq

Co-Founder and Managing Director

A chartered Insurer by profession, Mr. Wahid has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. He started his career at Allied Insurance Company of the Maldives and advanced through the ranks to become the Managing Director, a position he held for six years. During his time there, he led the company to become established as the large multi-faceted organization which it is today.

Mr. Wahid is also the co-founder of Ensis Fisheries Pvt Ltd. Responsible for operations of the entire group, he has led Ensis Fisheries to become the leading fish exporter in the Maldives.

Widely travelled and well known within the business community of the Maldives, Mr. Wahid has extensive experience managing market leading companies, leading teams in strategic planning, finance and management.

He is an Associate of the Charted Insurance Institute (UK).

Fathimath Shafeega

Chairperson

One of the most accomplished financial sector professionals in the Maldives, Ms. Shafeega has 28 years of experience spanning the fields of Banking, Corporate governance and Capital Markets. She started her career in the Maldives Monetary Authority and advanced to become its Deputy Managing Director. Since then she has overseen the creation of the Maldivian Capital Market from its very beginning as the first CEO of the Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA). Her work includes the setup of CMDA, introduction of the existing corporate governance framework and institutions in the capital market such as the Stock Exchange, the Securities Depository, the Brokers, Dealers and all other supporting frameworks. She was also a leading figure in the development of Islamic Banking in the Maldives.

Throughout her career, she has served on many important Committees and represented the Maldives on many key forums, both nationally and internationally. Her work representing Maldives is well known among international regulatory institutions.

Since her retirement from CMDA, she has founded the highly successful Women on Boards initiative, an NGO which works to empower women to become successful leaders.

Ms. Shafeega holds a Master of Business in Banking and Finance from Monash University of Australia.

Amna Musthafa

Non Executive Director of the Board

An accomplished finance executive, Ms. Amna has 12 years of experience in Accounting and Finance. Beginning her career as the Manager of Insular Insurance Brokers, she is currently employed as the Deputy Head of Finance and Accounts at Island Aviation Services limited, which operates the national airline and operates airports within the Maldives. Including her experience in a leadership role in accounting, she is also highly involved business development and contract negotiations.

Ms. Amna is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) since 2010. She also has specialized training in airline cost accounting and pricing.

Mohamed Musthafa

Non Executive Director of the Board

Mr. Mohamed is a highly specialized finance professional with over 15 years of experience working internationally. 

He currently works as the Mergers and Acquisitions Manager for Oasis Healthcare in Bristol, England, which serves over 3 million patients. Leading a team of acquisition managers, he is responsible for all financial aspects of mergers and acquisitions that the company undertakes. His experience includes his work as a financial modeler in the Miller Group and Baker Tilly in the U.K. He started his career in KPMG Financial Advisory Services, he has also worked at Ernst and Young.

Mr. Mohamed brings a wealth of multinational experience in M&A, financial modelling, investment analysis and the stock market.

Mr. Mohamed is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) since 2006 and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Durham University, UK.

Ahmed Rinan Fareed

Executive Director of the Board

Mr. Rinan has 4 years of experience in the industry and has worked in the leading Insurance broker, Insular Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd., with work involving underwriting, client negotiations, managing claims and leading surveys.

Mr. Rinan has a Diploma in Insurance from the Malaysian Insurance Institute, Malaysia.

Mr. Rinan has a Diploma in Law from Villa College, affiliated from University of the West of England.

Aminath Dhunya

Independent Director of the Board

Ms. Dhunya is an established businesswoman and serial entrepreneur. She has started several successful SME ventures and is involved in managing them full time.  She also holds the position of Company Secretary on the government owned Airport Investments Private Limited and has also worked in the travel industry.

Ms. Dhunya as an advanced Diploma in Human Resources from the Help University College, Malaysia.
